The towns
Northwich
The largest of the three, with a Victorian core, black-and-white frontages that were rebuilt or raised after historic subsidence, and substantial modern housing at Hartford, Davenham and Weaverham. The centre is tight; everything around it is easy.
Winsford
Largely postwar and modern estate housing with driveways and turning space. Among the most predictable loading in the county.
Middlewich
A smaller canal town with an older core, terraced streets and modern development on the edges. Straightforward work, with the canal bridges shaping the routes more than people expect.
The subsidence legacy
Worth mentioning because it shows up practically. Historic salt extraction left parts of the older stock with uneven floors and doors that no longer sit square — nothing dangerous, but it changes what will and will not go round a turn. Flag it at survey and we plan for it.
Out on the Plain
Farms, cottages and village property across the flat country between the towns, running towards Tarporley and the Sandbach side. The approach decides everything out here: single-track lanes with no passing places, low branches that will not clear a high vehicle, unmade drives that soften after a wet week, and yard entrances built for a tractor. Nothing is quoted without looking at the road.
